Akustika in the Community Hall of Grosio

SKEMA Akustika from Vertical Sonora System was used for the renovation of the historic Sala della Comunità in Grosio, in the province of Sondrio.

Our partner, Legno & Interni, was one of the contractors who worked on the redevelopment of the Sala della Comunità, a parish space and centre of community life in the Valtellina municipality. The hall is used as both a cinema and a theatre, so sound distribution is an important aspect that had to be taken care of carefully. After various tests to optimise the sound distribution, Legno & Interni, who were responsible for the room's panelling, chose Skema's Vertical solutions for the walls to be made sound-absorbent. The Akustika panels were applied around the entire perimeter of the room, for a total of 350 square metres of covered surface. The chosen format was Decor NAF Canaletto Walnut, 13/3 FP16.

Akustika panels have perforations on the visible surface; these are the millings that contribute to making SKEMA walls sound-absorbent, thus controlling sound distribution and, above all, drastically reducing reverberation. The abbreviation 13/3 FP16 means that every 13 mm of solid strip is alternated with 3 mm of milled and perforated slat with 8 mm diameter holes, 16 mm apart. The resulting acoustic comfort allows the many spectators to be welcomed into the room, while keeping the sound and voice of those on stage clean and direct, for interference-free listening.
