The guide to know how to clean the LVT floor.

The LVT floors, that is, Luxury Vinyl Tile, are one of the most recent type of flooring introduced in the market and are becoming increasingly popular for their great practicality, versatility and also for their beauty.
They are distinguished from the classic PVC floors for the shape with which they are made: square tile or rectangular stave from which they take the name "tile" and for the production technique by press instead of a calender. Luxury, instead, refers to the quality with which the floor is worked and composed and the very high definition of the decr. A floor that owes its success also to the great practicality of laying and to the excellent resistance to liquids.
Cleaning a floor LVT is very simple, we see  in this completeguide what are the steps to be followed.

The secret to keep the LVTfloor clean in time is the frequency, not so much the procedure.
The more often you sweep it, the easier it is to keep it beautiful in time. This is necessary because the LVT floor is strongly nonslip and therefore safe even if wet, for this reason it tends to capture on the surface even the dirt which should be removed with the mechanical action.
To clean it just use a common broom or a vacuum cleaner without carpet sweeper, so to eliminate the deposits of dirt and sand. A procedure to be done even daily if you have animals in your home or if you do not have the habit of taking off your shoes before coming in.
A valid extra device, which is valid for all floors, is to have at the entrance a good rug or doormat to collect dirt and avoid to bring it inside the house.

LVT does not fear water, but stagnations should always be avoided. To wash the floor in LVT use common microfibre cloths and  floor brushes.
As a detergent can be used a neutral detergent, the same used for laminate, which must not be aggressiveì. It is better to avoid using dust-remiving detergents and containing waxes. It is recommended to avoid the use of solvent-based products.

  • Use doormats and mats with latex and non-rubber content, which in the long run could stain the  LVT floor.
  • Put felt guards under the feet of the heavier furniture and the legs of the chairs.
  • Never use solvents for cleaning, e.g. thinners and acetone, directly in contact with the floor.

Heat sources

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to heat generated by the sun as high temperature peacks can cause the panels to expand in a concentrated manner.
  • Beware of burns, extremely hot items such as matches, cigarette ends, heated irons, pots, etc., even if there are no risk of flame propagation, can damage the surface of the floor.

To remove stubborn stains that can form on the LVT floor  is better to  use always a neutral cleaning product or a specific product, such as the Multilayer Cleaner of Skema. Usually most of the stains take off with a damp rung out cloth.

For stains that are difficult to remove, such as markers or painters, turpentine solvents can be used, as long as they are not aggressive, and a soft cloth. Never use pure acetone or trichloroethylene or similar substances. After removing the stains, wash the surface with water.

As you can see, the LVT is an extremely practical and easy to manage solution. This is one of the factors contributing to its growing success.

The other advantages are related to a great flexibility of use, it can be used in humid environments, it has a very small thickness that combined with the ease of installation allows to install it on existing floors and finally has a high definition of the decor, able to "deceive" even the most careful observers. Finally it is an excellent sound-absorbing floor, a characteristic provided by its resilience.
