From 19 May to 18 June 2023 SKEMA participates with its own installation, designed by Franco Driusso, in the exhibition entitled "Materica. Tra design e saper fare" organised by [e]DesignFestival, one of the side events of the Venice Design Biennial at Fabrica 33 in Venice.
In the installation that can be seen from 19 May to 18 June in Venice, SKEMA brings its interpretation of the synthesis between nature, man and architecture, with man-made products made from synthetic but perfectly sustainable materials, represented by TRAMETES and SKINÌ.
Products made with recycled and recyclable materials, and all related to each other, but separable at the end of life to be reborn, as happens in the chemistry of the forest, which remodels, regenerates itself in a continuous cycle of its own material. An architecture that also cites nature in its protective purpose with the SKINÌ partition that becomes a hedge and offers protection to the TRAMETES trees, re-proposing a habitat made of new shapes, colours and sounds in harmony.
Curated by Luciano Setten and Paola Bellin, it is one of the collateral projects that [e]DesignFestival is proposing, independently, for the Venice Design Biennial 2023.
Through an articulated itinerary, whose common thread is matter and know-how, the Materica exhibition displays objects that communicate the re-invention of traditional materials - glass, plastic, fabric, wood, steel, ceramic, marble - conceived and proposed in expressive forms that are the result of contaminations and synergies.
Every two years, it organises diffuse design exhibitions in Venice, coinciding with the Architecture Biennale. Launched in 2016, it is divided between a main thematic exhibition and a series of collateral projects in unique locations in Venice.
This year's theme is Auto-Exotic.
It is an exhibition space housed in an old carpenter's workshop on Calle Larga dei Boteri in the Cannaregio district, number 5063, in Venice. A large, partly mezzanine building with exposed brickwork and large windows and skylights through which natural light filters.
